How do I get my numbers?
If you register by the mail before July 1st your number will be mailed to you. If you are not going to be at the address your release form indicates please contact us as to what address you want to receive it OR tell us to hold for you.
All entries received by mail after the mailing July 3rd will be held for pick up. You may pick up at any of the walk-ups or on race day BEFORE 9 a.m. on the steps of the school located at the start line in Idaho Springs.
Why do I have to wear two numbers?
In order to get your number with the large number of people competing in the race we need to have the opportunity to score you from both sides of the road.
FOR LICENSED RIDERS - You must wear your numbers on both sides of your body(see handout in packets or posted at registration). If the judges can't score you then we can't place and time you effectively.
FOR CITIZEN RIDERS - You need to wear the hip number on your right side. You need to place the frame number on your bike as indicated in the Citizen's number placement handout.
DO NOT COVER YOUR NUMBERS WITH CAMELBACK, HAIR, ETC. REMOVE VESTS OR JACKETS IF THEY ARE OBSURING YOUR NUMBERS. It is critical for the judges to be able to see your number.
Why can't my friend/spouse go to the top?
The road is CLOSED from Echo Lake to the top. Only those limited vehicles chosen by the Race Director can travel to the top.
All vehicles try to bring riders down BUT it is strongly suggested to be prepared to ride down to Echo Lake if not the bottom.
Can I have my friend/spouse wait at Echo Lake?
Yes but only in legitimate parking spots. See parking map for locations of all parking. If you park in spots that are illegal you will be ticketed.
A better place to wait is in Idaho Springs. Give the local businesses some of your business. Helps the race get permits each year AND it makes less congestion at Echo Lake.
Know the approximate time of the rider you are waiting for and add 30 minutes to come down from the top plus 20 minutes for you to drive to Echo Lake. This cuts down on the number of vehicles just sitting at Echo Lake.
HINT: Echo Lake Lodge will be open and has the best apple pie on the planet!
How does my extra clothing get to the top?
Look for the clothing vehicles that will be staged down on 103 on the shoulders. Look for the sign indicating your category.
These vehicles leave 15 minutes before the start of the category they are assigned to and go directly to the top.
They wait no more than 15 minutes then unload into the "clothing bag are" directly past the finish line in the parking lot.
Your clothing will be there for you to pick up. Bags remaining on the top when the sage vehicle arrives will be loaded and brought to the school. The sag comes down around 2:30 – 3:00 p.m.
All bags end up at the school and ultimately in the possession of the Race Director.

Where do I put Trash?

How do I get my results?
Our judges/scorers are working at 14,000 ft. and due to all the microwave interference we have no communication with them during the race.
The judges send down their score sheets to our results crew with our motorcycle referees. The referees come down to Echo Lake and fax them to our results crew at the school. The data then needs to be inputed and unofficial results produced.
The results process takes time! There are 29 separate categories and 1100-1200 riders.
Unofficial results are posted in clumps as data is processed. Judges score numbers not names so that is why it is critical not to cover your number with anything. If judge couldn't read your number you may not have been scored.
Results crew concentrates on top 25 to get awards and BAR/BAT done quickly. Everyone will get a time and place but patience is a big plus.
We produce results on a regular basis but we may not have received yours at the time of updated results for your category and that is the reason you are not on the results at that point. Don't worry you will be placed.
NOTICE THE TIME STAMP ON THE RESULTS. This will help you see that you may not be on the results at that time.
KNOW THE APPROXIMATE TIME OF DAY YOU FINISHED. This will help if you do actually end up with a LEGITIMATE protest.
You must protest within 15 minutes of the time you appear on the results.
AWARDS CEREMONY AND PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
The officials declare the results final in each category.
Race promotion staff cannot award any prizes until they are official.
It is greatly appreciated if you are in the top three in your category that you wait for the awards ceremony. If you are in the prizes and want to leave you need to check with the Race Director. If you leave and your prize is merchandise. You will forfeit it unless it be mailed to you for the 1 ounce postal rate. No exceptions!
